Kushimichi is one of a handful of kushiyaki (more commonly referred to as yakitori) places in Yokosuka. From their sign below you can see the skewer. They're located one block off Blue Street and a few steps from Hamazushi. Check the blog map or by clicking on the location link at the very bottom of this post.
Kushimichi |
Kushimichi is a warm and inviting place as are most izakaya. Seats for about 10 at the counter and then about 7 or 8 additional tables. It's relatively small. They have a decent English menu but it seems to be missing some of the dishes that appear on the Japanese menu. Both menus are below.
The Kanji for this place is 串道
Kushi is "skewer" and michi is "road, street, path," etc. It also has the connotation of a way or method of doing things.
Sumiyaki means to cook over charcoal.
Besides kushiyaki, they have some other good dishes to order. I've translated just a few things on each page but will get around to a full translation in the future. But some basic hiragana, katakana, and a phone app will be helpful with the Japanese menu - and give you a few more choices beyond the English menu.
Overall I give this place a thumbs up. Cannot be compared to Maido, but it's location is very convenient.
