Marlowe Honten - マーロウ 本店 横須賀

Marlowe consistently scores high on the Japanese restaurant review site Tabelog. If you're exploring the coast of Sagami Bay, it would be an alright place to stop for some chow.

Marlowe from a nearby park

The highest ranked restaurant in the Yokosuka area is a 3.97 on a 5.0 scale. So a 3.58 is pretty good. For the Tabelog site, anything above 3 is very good. Being located on the coast certainly contributes to their high ranking. It also contributes to their prices, which are a bit high, but not entirely unexpected.

Honten means main store, and they have two more smaller places near Zushi. Inside it's quite relaxing, with mostly jazz music being played.  Almost positive it was no smoking.  Their number: 046-857-4780

Has the feel of an English library - yes there are alcohol bottles and pianos in English libraries - pretty sure.

Salad with the unusual red daikon. Yes those are little sardines.
Some of their dishes can be very "Japanese" if you know what I mean. The above salad is a great example. There were a LOT of not so small whole sardines in it. If these were deep fried I'd have no problem -  or if they were smaller. But these were a little to big to just swallow so you needed to chew them. It's an acquired taste and texture.

Marlowe Honten is located on Sagami bay very close to Restaurant Don. Between Restaurant Don and Marlowe there is a beach side parking lot where you can park. Marlowe also has a few spots farther down the road to the west on the "mountain" side of the road. You can see the restaurant location on the blog map.

Pudding
The pudding seems to be one of their specialties.  These were the espresso and green tea puddings.

Nice collection of wines.

There is a nice little park in front of the restaurant and you can take a walk on the beach area as well. On a clear day you can see Fuji.
