Gyoza King - Ohsho Chinese Restaurant

Gyoza King is a chain restaurant with over 500 stores in Japan but only one in Yokosuka. It's located on a small alley that leads to Yokosuka-Chuo station. See the blog map for an accurate location.

Gyoza King delivers fresh food at a very reasonable price.  The chain started out as a Chinese restaurant in 1967 in the Kyoto area and has grown since. They utilizes a central kitchen concept where 4 or so  "central kitchens" spread throughout the country prepare the raw ingredients. Each morning there are deliveries to each of the 500 stores in the country for use during that day. Each day one central kitchen will make approximately 260,000 gyoza.  It is through this central kitchen concept that they are able to keep the prices down. Quality is still ensured through the daily delivery process.  More on their website.

790 Yen set - Ramen, Fried Rice, Gyoza
On their website you can view their menu, though I didn't see their set menu options. I have a photo of them below though. The website also lists allergy information but it is only in Japanese (the link is at the bottom of the main page). There is wheat in everything except the mango custard and the kimchi - sorry.

The main menu at Gyoza King includes English but the set menu was only in Japanese. No problem though because the set menu has good pictures that can guide your decision.

Stir fry chef

Gyoza King is a very lively, fast-paced place. Everything seems to be moving fast here. The sounds are non-stop from the welcome greeting, the orders being shouted out to the cooks, and the goodbyes. Sitting at the counter is a good place to take it all in. There is a cook for the stir fry, a few for the gyoza, one for the ramen, and another for the other ala-carte items such as shrimp fritters. You won't leave hungry if you go with the set menu lunch - all are provided in healthy (or unhealthy, depending on how you look at it) portions.
