Aficionado Intelligence Report - 9

First a technical note - over the past few days the word wrap/formatting has not been cooperating on Google blogs using dynamic views. I'm using a temporary fix and Google engineers are "working on it." So if you see words cut off or other abnormal events that is likely the cause. For now the temporary fix they recommended seems to be working.

Now back to business...

We thought that Pepsi flavored Cheetos would be the end of it, and that bad dream came and went. But the team at Frito-Lay are back out with a new flavor: Avocado Salad (アボカドサラダ).

The subject was spotted inside Family Mart and a sample was taken into custody.

In the Aficionado test kitchen, a bag was placed around human subjects, including some that were not particularly fond of avocados. The results were unanimous. The avocado salad Cheetos got a thumbs-up from all subjects (who were not aware they were being tested so as to not influence the results).   This scientific test conducted with appropriate controls in place, and the empty bag of course, can point to only one conclusion.

This product receives a coveted "star" and endorsement from Yokosuka Food Corner.  The avocado flavoring comes from "avocado powder" derived from avocados of course. It is really delicious and likely has some health benefits from those MUFAs.

And if you're Frito-Lay and you also make Doritos, why not...

* Aficionado Intelligence Reporting (AIR) was conceived of grey bearded men, through brilliant thought, in a small Izakaya on the backstreets of Yokosuka. AIR reports on little known but exceptional (or maybe just really good) dining spots or interesting food developments and relies on highly untrained observers making random observations and developing conclusions through sometimes single data point regression statistical analysis.

Any conclusions from it's reporting are final.
