Are you a hot and spicy aficionado? Well then Bangkok Spicy might be able to help you out.
The baseline spice meter starts out at "medium" and then goes up from there. And if that isn't enough, you can add more spice yourself. If you don't like spicy food you can still easily come here and order something that is not spicy from their extensive menu.
The food here is very good. Good to me means quality ingredients and depth of flavors. Bangkok Spicy does very well in both these categories. You can just see it in the Tom Yam soup below - wish you could taste it.
Please don't be scared off by the name. I know some spicy aficionados and they say this place is "nothin" as far as testing their limits. Then again they eat level 10 at CoCo Curry...Just tell Sanya when you order what you want and he'll accommodate your needs.
Tom Yam Soup |
The Tom Yam was really really good. It had a lot of depth and you could tell it had been stewing for a while. Inside was shrimp, carrots, noodles, daikon, bean sprouts, onions, mustard leaf and On Choi. It was the kind of soup that you wanted to finish every drop.
Many people may be more familiar with Tom Yum soup. Tom Yam is simply a variant of the translation. Both are delicious and my mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Pa Nang Curry |
Bangkok Spicy is run by Sanya who is from Thailand of course. He's been here for quite a few years and trying to make a living in the difficult restaurant business. Check out his Facebook page here or better yet go to Bangkok Spicy for some awesome food. I especially like to eat at these places run by hard working immigrants. The Indian (too many to mention) , Thai, Vietnamese, Peruvian, Korean, etc. places are all run by hard working people doing what they know best, and that is cooking the best of their home country dishes.
Some other pluses at Bangkok Spicy are its No Smoking policy and that English is spoken. Bangkok Spicy is located on a 2nd Floor and the access is right next to "Delicious" Indian Restaurant and Geodana Restaurant. See the location link below or check the Blog Map Part II.
See some additional information is available at the Yokosuka Ichiban site.
