Yasohachi is a Yakitori/Kushiyaki restaurant in Yokosuka located one to two blocks east of Yokosuka Chuo Station. It seems to be a family run restaurant with friendly servers who eagerly wait to see if you need anything.
If you'd like to experience a neighborhood restaurant hidden on a back street then Yasohachi is a good place to go.
I suspect they don't see many Americans coming through the doors, but there is nothing to be afraid of. Any restaurant with the kanji for skewer 串 (kushi) out front is likely a safe place to enter without knowing any Japanese. If you know some yakitori basics you're all set. If you don't know any Japanese then just sit at the counter and point to your food.

As I mentioned above, there were two servers helping out in the restaurant. They stayed on the edge of the room dressed in similar uniforms like the ball retrievers in a tennis match, and will descend upon your table as soon as you start to raise your hand with typical Japanese efficiency. You can see them in one of the restaurant photos on their website link below.
The inside is very comfortable and "homey." Primarily wood construction and accents with plenty of signs, decorations, flowers, shochu and sake bottles, etc. in every little corner.
Yasohachi is another way of saying 88. In Japanese it also means "a great many" or "countless."
Their website is here and their menu here. Just use your browser translator. You'll likely get some odd translations, but I've also included a translated menu below which avoids translations like "tomato winding" and "the intercede" that my browser gave me. Their website has some good photos too.
Like Maido, he uses an electric grill for even heat.
